I was massively impressed with the results of the grafted tomato plants and will continue to graft.
This year I will be grafting cucumbers (video coming soon)

My grafting method is tube grafting (Japanese top grafting) please see my tomato grafting video

Why I grafted:

The reason I decided to do this was because the soil in the pollytunnel is extremely poor, the soil pH is 7.6, this pH is extremely high and we get lock up of nutrients, I have tried folia feed but find it marks the fruit and this makes them look less appetizing although does not change the taste, another thing to bear in mind with folia feeding in polytunnel environments is that the humidity is increased and can lead to botrytis and blight as you are creating a wonderful environment for these spores to breed, on the other hand helps to prevent red spider mite (catch 22)

How grafts help to produce a better crop

SUMMERY:

They help produce bigger fruits and increase yield

Can aid earlier fruiting

Are hot and cold tolerant

The plants are put under less stress and fewer diseases

The grafts are able to access nutrient uptake easier and enables the plants to concentrate there energy on production

Will massively help with heritage verity's strength and production

Give it a go!

Let me know how you get on and how your cops yield
