Kalauuahe
Traditional folksong
of the Siraya people from Taiwan
Transcribed from an early 19th century source by Edgar Macapili
and
Arranged for ukulele
by
David van ooijen (2024)
I had the pleasure of performing this song with the @oninisingers, a vocal group from the Siraya people of Taiwan, in a concert dedicated to the life of a Dutch 17th century missionary among those same Siraya people. It was such a special feeling to relive our joined history on that stage in Tainan in the @taiwan_earlymusicfestival
What better instrument to play this song, than a cute soprano by @wahaukulele , kindly provided by the @ukuleletaiwan shop in Taipei.
