In a recent tweet, The Kobeissi Letter pointed out that while inflation may have eased overall, it’s hitting lower-income households harder than ever. The bottom 40% of households by income are now experiencing inflation 25 basis points higher than the national average, with essentials like housing and food making up a larger chunk of their expenses.
➡️ In 2022, this gap was even wider at 50 basis points above average. Meanwhile, the wealthiest 20% have enjoyed below-average inflation since 2021, widening the economic divide and making basic necessities feel like luxury items for many.
