Battle of Walt’s Ridge Stopmotion Part 2 - Lego WW2 Pacific Theater
The Battle of Walt's Ridge took place on the island of New Britain, in the Pacific Theatre. Marines were tasked with assaulting a well fortified hill guarded by the Japanese. After intense fighting Marines were able to hike to the top of the ridge. Japanese officers weren't happy with the advancement the Americans took. A quick counter-attack began, five waves of Japanese banzi charges took a toll on the allied defenders. 105mm howitzers were called up to weaken the the banzi attacks. Due to calling extremely close artillery support, Marines were hit by their own artillery. Will charging up the steep hill, Marines brought along with them a 37mm cannon, this beast weighed close to a ton(1000 pounds/454 kilograms). Marines bringing the cannon up the hill were shot at intensely. But, each time that a Marine died while bringing that cannon, another would take his place. Since the charges happened at night, firing the cannon would give away the cannons position, so the cannon was never fired during the battle. This stopmotion is dedicated to all Marines that lost their lives on this hill, and all the allied forces in WWII.
