Medicare Part D will undergo significant changes in 2025 through the Inflation Reduction Act, designed to make prescription drug coverage more affordable and straightforward. The most notable change is a new $2,000 annual cap on out-of-pocket prescription drug spending.

Additionally, the confusing "donut hole" coverage gap will be eliminated in favor of a simpler three-phase system, while a new Manufacturer Discount Program will offer 10% discounts on brand-name drugs during initial coverage and 20% during the catastrophic phase.

Medicare Open Enrollment started on October 15 and ends on December 7. Now is the time to review your Medicare Part D coverage and compare plans to see how the new changes will affect your costs and coverage for the coming year.

Even if you're satisfied with your current plan, you should still conduct an annual review during Medicare Open Enrollment. Part D plans, as well as your healthcare needs can change over time. If you’d like personalized help, it's advised to contact a licensed agent.
