Welcome to another episode of North Coast History and Haunts. On September 10th, 1953 a deadly, violent gas explosion destroyed West 117th street on the border of Cleveland and Lakewood, Ohio. One woman was killed and 64 were injured and many cars destroyed. To this day, nobody is sure how it started or even what caused it. The explosion lifted manhole covers over 150 in the air and massive chunks of concrete were ripped apart and cars tossed around like toys. Join us for a look back at the day the ground exploded.
