Michael Jackson - What really happened:
A rare video from 2007, where journalist Jacques Peretti tracks down the elusive star two years after he was acquitted...
NB: Original video was edited from ~42mn to 40mn because of copyright claims on some segments.

In 2005 Michael Jackson was acquitted on charges of child molestation. But instead of returning to his home in Neverland, he disappeared - popping up only occasionally in a series of bizarre sightings.

Two years later lifelong Jackson fan and reporter Jacques Peretti reckons he's tracked him down to a suburban house on the outskirts of Las Vegas.

And while Peretti never gets any closer to his fallen hero than the imposing front gates, he does speak to some of the people who knew him best to try to find out how his stock has sunk to rock bottom.

At a recent auction of once priceless Jackson memorabilia, where this illuminating film begins, only a handful of people showed up.

And as far as the Vegas hotels where he might have made a comeback are concerned, he's got about as much pulling power as radioactive waste.

The people Peretti meets include Michael's lifelong friend J. Randy Taraborrelli and his former manager Bob Jones.

He's surprisingly happy to take at face value their promise that the "Wacko Jacko" image was all just an invention for the media - even as he charts the singer's steady departure from reality to the point where he believed he could get away with anything.
