Concrete mixer vs. mixer: which is better? Construction week 4 – all fair and square!
Concrete mixer vs. mixer: which is better? Construction week 4 – all fair and square!
Hello, friends! The fourth week of construction – and I finally figured out why I didn’t buy a concrete mixer, how to grind blocks without cracks and what to do if the foundation is crooked (spoiler: there’s a life hack!).
🔹 Main questions of the week
Concrete mixer or mixer?
— The mixer mixes 40+ liters in 4 minutes – there’s nowhere faster.
— The concrete mixer needs to be washed, it’s bulky, and the basin just needs to be tapped.
— Conclusion: the mixer wins for small volumes!
How to fix a crooked foundation?
— If the cement layer under the block is too thick – saw off the bottom of the block! (It’s a pity I learned this late).
How long does D350 aerated concrete hold?
— 60 tons per linear meter — the roof ridge will not collapse!
🔹 Life hacks that will save time
✅ Sand through an ironing board — yes, it works!
✅ Wet the bottom of the block — better adhesion to the cement.
✅ Sanding with a rule — black stripes will show where to remove the excess.
🔹 Mistakes that are best not repeated
❌ Do not remove squeezed out cement immediately — the block will sag.
❌ A milling cutter without a vacuum cleaner — the neighbor will not appreciate it (the dust flew to his site).
❌ A thick layer of mortar — the blocks are pressed through (a dry composition is needed).
🔹 What are the plans?
— Figure out the foam for the seams (facade vs. non-facade).
— Buy a cordless tool — the wires are already out!
Construction is a marathon, not a sprint. If you are interested in how I will get out of this further, like and write your advice in the comments!
