Understanding how to seal and finish your piece of driftwood can be an overwhelming decision. There are so many choices and depending on the type of wood you use and what your final vision is will determine which direction you should go.
All three of the products used in this video are great products and I just want to share this experience with you. hope you enjoy!!

Alright! Let’s break down these wood finishes:
Linseed Oil:
Type: Natural oil derived from flax seeds.
Application: Needs multiple coats, with ample drying time between each.
Finish: Produces a warm, slightly glossy finish.
Protection: Provides moderate protection, great for interior wooden items like furniture.
Maintenance: Needs regular reapplication, particularly in high-use areas.
Notes: It’s environmentally friendly but can yellow over time.
Minwax Tung Oil:
Type: Blended oil, often contains some varnish for durability.
Application: Easier application compared to pure tung oil, less frequent reapplication needed.
Finish: Gives a hand-rubbed appearance, enhancing the wood grain.
Protection: Better water resistance and durability compared to linseed oil.
Maintenance: Occasional reapplication may be required, especially for surfaces that get a lot of use.
Notes: Dries faster than linseed oil, providing a more protective surface.
Beeswax:
Type: Natural wax harvested from beehives.
Application: Typically applied over other finishes like oil; needs buffing for best results.
Finish: Creates a soft sheen and smooth finish.
Protection: Offers minimal protection on its own but adds water resistance when used over oil finishes.
Maintenance: Requires reapplication, especially in high-traffic areas.
Notes: Non-toxic and gives a pleasant scent; not suitable as the sole finish for heavy-use items.
