Medieval Turkic statehood reached its peak 1,000-1,500 years ago. Grandiose khanates and vast khanates occupied a significant portion of Eurasia, encompassing hundreds of peoples and millions of people. What did these people believe? What religious ideas enabled the ancient Turks to perform military feats, develop science and the arts, and create a steppe civilization that fascinates the world today? This story briefly describes the main cults that shaped the religious beliefs of the Turkic-speaking peoples of the Middle Ages.
