Let's Play Outer Wilds #33: No Sleep is Deep Enough... Unless...
The aliens that call the simulation home are trapped there forever and I have no doubt that they know this. I also doubt that they care, for they have the illusion of their homeworld which they believe they can 'live' in indefinately, but why didn't they just go home? What stopped them from turning the Stranger around and forgetting they went on their excursion to our solar system?
The only way we might be able to find the answer to this is if we find a slide reel displaying that information, but many of the ones on the Stranger have been damaged. This might not be the case in the simulation, but we haven't found a projector we can safely use yet and part of that is due to the alarm system the aliens installed within the simulation. It prevents us from getting too far in under normal circumstances, but what if we changed our circumstances?
