Going down a slide, climbing, swinging, and running can help improve gross motor skills, agility, and balance for people with autism.
The vestibular system in the inner ear detects head position and movement. Some people with autism may be hypersensitive to vestibular stimulation, which can cause them to fear ordinary movements like going down slides or climbing.
JJ loves swinging, but he is fearful of climbing and slides.
That's not all autism. That's our autism.
