Jake Byrd made his major league debut on April 5, 2005 against the Florida Marlins pitching 2 1/3 Perfect Shutout Innings of Relief against the Florida Marlins. He started his career by getting Carson Steers to pop out to short to end the inning. His first strikeout was Mike Lowell. He would also come to bat after getting the first out of his career and he would single against Marlins Rookie Starter Luis Ordonez.
