5th Anniversary _ Be Happy Music Club
In August 2016, 5 years ago I walked through the doors of a school called Fiji School for the Blind, (Fiji Islands) and played music for 15 children. Some would called them special because of their blindness or vison issues. They showed me that they are special because they SEE the world with their feelings and love. We don’t find this easily in a life time. Its a very rare, raw and true LOVE!
They inspired me so much in that day, through their voices, laugh, dance and love, so I needed to create something to make sure that they would always have the opportunity to express themselves, show their talents and have fun through music, for the rest of their lives. Five years ago Be Happy Music Club came to life.
I am really proud to say that after this 5 years we work with 5 schools and the program reaches out to over 200 children living with disabilities such as physical impairment, visual impairment, deafness and hearing loss, speech and language disorders, Down Syndrome, Autism and Cerebral Palsy.
COVID19 has affected very hard our program and we have not been able to provide music for our children for almost 18 months now, although, this video shows why we will never give up on this dream. In fact, we will come back as soon as possible and this shows how strong is our idea of developing their well-being and promote social inclusion through music.
Today we celebrate Be Happy Music Club’s 5th Anniversary and I thank from the bottom of my heart everyone who have been part of this journey so far: our music teachers, schools facilitators, families, volunteers, sponsors, donors. Without you, this dream would never be possible.
Today we celebrate music and the lives of every children living with a disability or going through any kind of hardship around the world.
