Friends, having your data in more than one location is one of the best things that you can do when it comes to the important files on your Mac. But if you have only one Mac computer then it's the best idea to clone or ( Bootable) Backup your Mac hard drive.
There are 2 easiest methods to clone your Mac hard drive. one is paid and other one is absolutely free
In First Method, we choose the super duper for clone or backup our Macbook Hard drive
SuperDuper is the most advanced, yet easy to use disk copying program (bootable Clone / Backup ) available for macOS.
SuperDuper is fully compatible with Big Sur, Monterey, and Ventura,
It can, of course, make a full bootable backup, or completely duplicate your boot drive ( Clone ) to another drive
first, open the software.
Now from copy drop-down menu choose your source Disk, I mean choose your Mac's current hard drive / HDD or SSD
from the To drop-down menu, select your internal or external hard drive or SSD in which you want to backup or Clone
I choose my external USB hard drive / SSD for bootable Clone / Backup for my MacBook pro hard HDD
Make sure backup all files, are selected here ( otherwise it will not create a bootable Clone of your Macbook Pro Hard drive)
leave everything as it is, and hit the copy now button
Type your admin password and hit the enter key
This process will erase your target hard drive or SSD so I highly recommend you, please use an empty drive for backup
If you are using a modern Mac operating system then you will see this message
Because modern Mac operating systems require an apple file system APFS
Don't worry just hit the, convert to APFS, button
This software will first convert my external hard drive to an APFS volume
Then will format my external hard drive
And then it will copy all the files from my Mac hard drive to my USB Hard drive / USB SSD
Finally, this software will make my USB drive bootable
now I have successfully created a carbon copy of my mac hard drive / Bootable Clone / Bootable Backup
Let me show you another way to create bootable clone or backup of your Mac hard drive
Restart your Mac
Immediately press and hold Command and R key combinations, until you see the startup screen
Now select disk utility and click on the continue button
Now from the sidebar select the hard drive / SSD on which you want to create a bootable backup / Bootable Clone
this time Instead of my USB hard drive / SSD I choose my second internal hard drive to create a bootable backup / Bootable Clone
Right-click on your hard drive and select the erase option
From the format drop-down menu choose APFS
Now click the erase button
After erasing your hard drive click on done button
Now once again right click on your HDD / or SSD and this time choose the restore option
Make sure your Mac hard drive /HDD /SSD is selected here
Now click the restore button
just like Super Duper, This process will create a carbon copy of your Mac's hard drive / HDD/ SDD
When the process is complete click on the done button
now we successfully created a carbon copy ( Bootable Clone / Bootable Backup ) of our Macbook pro hard drive / HDD/ SSD
