Rita, you are my "Evenstar" and I am glad you are with me here at the beginning of all things. You have a way of making even the ordinary feel extraordinary, just by being you. Your smile is a light that brightens even the darkest days and your laughter fills my heart with joy. Your adventurous spirit ignites a fire within me, encouraging me to explore the world by your side. I know that I am safe with you, because your skills and expertise will keep me from falling into any more rivers and your empathy supports me in ways that I didn't know I needed. With you, I wake up every day eager to write the next page of our story together. I am forever grateful that I requested to be your Secret Santa last year, because you became my friend, my love and my greatest adventure.
You can trust me to stick with you through thick and thin. And you can trust me to keep any secret of yours closer than you keep it yourself. But you cannot trust me to let you face trouble alone and go off without a word. Today I, Colin, pledge to you, Rita, to become your steadfast friend and husband. I will be your companion whether the path is clear or the road darkens. I offer my strength, my heart and my deepest devotion as we strive for such great heights. I promise to love you wholeheartedly, to listen to your heart, to be patient and kind, and to never be too far apart.
Together, we will navigate life’s journey, forever bound in marriage by the promises we make today. And to that, I hold. I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone.

Colin,
I have no idea how to start these vows
I was never that girl that dreamed of her wedding day. Marriage was never, honestly, on my horizons. I was always planning adventures, which I ultimately went on. Often dragging my, reluctant, son with me. Sorry, Lance.
However, just as I finally gave up hope and resigned to being alone, dedicating my life to raising Lance into the most incredible human being that he is, you made your hearthstone to my heart.
With you, you have been unwaveringly incredible from the first moment.
Steadfast in all you do, and knowing exactly how I was, never seeking to `fix' or ‘cure' me, you choose every single day to support and lend me strength as I gradually find and regain my true self. You choose to walk the path beside me to become our best selves with compassion and understanding, always willing to learn with me to do better together. Every day with you makes me do better, not just for you or me but for us.
I knew you were the one when I had the strongest feeling to touch you within minutes of meeting you in person. I used to be quite touchy-feely as a kid, but with all that I have experienced, I shied away from all physical contact that was not social hugs and from those I chose. With you, it feels right every single time; never once has there been any question on the matter and many other things that made you stand out.
I adore the fact that you give me the support and safe space I need, but also with humour and intelligence. Recognising my past, you thrive in giving me the safety I need without making me feel trapped, giving me structure with flexibility, and just being the person, I look at every day and actively want to be at his side because it just feels right.
When we are together, it feels natural, like we have been together a long time, and yet with the fire & passion of the union of two souls meant to be. Whether in person, via video chat, or gaming together in World of Warcraft, it just feels right. And yes, I promise always to try to go left, because you're (usually) right.
Colin, you are the Faramir to my Eowyn, the Samwise to my Frodo, and I, Rita, promise to be the Arwen to your Aragorn.
For we are a team, it's not us against each other but us against the problems. Colin, you are mi chroi, my better half, my love.
Every day, I fall even more in love with you. You are such an incredible and beautiful human being, and every day with you is greater than the last. Whilst I am somewhat shy about my emotions, I want to shout at the top of my lungs about my love and adoration for you in front of our friends and family.
Colin, I chose you, today, tomorrow and for all days onwards, to go on all that is thrown at us, in the greatest adventure of all, life.
