GCSE Biology: Specialised Cells (sperm, egg, ciliated epithelial cell, red blood cell, nerve cell)
Cells are specialised for all manner of bodily functions. We explain the special features of:
sperm and egg cells for their role in reproduction
the ciliated epithelial cell for keeping our lungs particle-free
red blood cells for carrying oxygen
and nerve cells for transmitting electric impulses
We also put the concept of specialisation into context, explaining how it helps us do all the things we can do.
