Welcome to this recording of Floréal M. Roméro's lecture and discussion, given at the forum

"Social Ecology and Communalism," which took place on September 28 and 29, 2024, in La Chapelle Saint-Aubin, near Le Mans. This forum, co-organized by activist groups, environmental activists, and local associations in the Sarthe region, brought together nearly 75 participants over two days rich in exchanges and reflections.
Floréal M. Roméro, the keynote speaker, is a leading figure in promoting Murray Bookchin's theories in France and Spain. Rooted in the Spanish anarcho-syndicalist tradition, he champions the ideas of social ecology and communalism through his meetings, publications, and books. Author of "Acting Here and Now – Rethinking Murray Bookchin's Social Ecology" and co-author of "Murray Bookchin & Libertarian Social Ecology," he lives in Andalusia where he works with peasant associations, while also actively participating in the creation of the association "L'Adventice," whose objective is to foster an emancipatory movement towards communalist social ecology.

In this lecture, Floréal Roméro revisits the historical causes of the ecological and social destruction that persists and intensifies today, and the necessity of a political organization founded on social ecology and communalism. He presents the theoretical foundations of these approaches while drawing on concrete experiences of local and international struggles and alternatives.
