Garcinia cambogia comes from a small, pumpkin-shaped fruit (also called garcinia gummi-gutta) that grows in Southeast Asia and India. The key active ingredient found in the rind of garcinia cambogia fruit is #hydroxycitric acid (#HCA), a compound that inhibits the enzyme ATP-citrate lyase, which is involved in endogenous lipid biosynthesis.
In other words, some studies have demonstrated that HCA can reduce the conversion of carbohydrates into stored fat by inhibiting certain enzyme processes. It also increases hepatic glycogen synthesis, suppresses appetite and decreases body weight gain.
