This video descibes spool piece metrology testing performed in a drydock at Peterhead, Scotland in Dec 09. The goal of this testing was to evaluate BlueViews BV5000 scanning sonar for spool piece metrology work. The results showed that in many cases, using a BV5000 3D scanner has many advantages over conventional methods such as reduced setup and measurement times. The 3D image also give you a complete view of the surrounding area for project planning purposes.
