Juneteenth 2022: Freedom Day
On June 19, 1865, approximately 250,000 enslaved African Americans in the state of Texas were officially notified of their freedom. Although the Emancipation Proclamation was issued nearly three years earlier, June 19th marks the day that all slaves were freed in the United States. 157 years later, the now national holiday we all know as Juneteenth: Freedom Day, is the day we commemorate African-American freedom and achievement.
As we continue to indulge in festivities, it is important to remember, that this is not just a day off. Team Impact challenges you to make an impact in your community by preserving your right to freedom and free choice. Our voices matter and each of us holds a special power in being able to make a difference, no matter how big or small. Make our nation's Juneteenth celebration count by focusing on three things this year: interest, engagement, and action.
