For years I have used Carmex medicated lip balm, and decided to share with you exactly what Carmex does to your lips. Carmex has a few ingredients, one active ingredient is white petrolatum which is a byproduct of petroleum refining. It forms a water-repellent layer on the applied area, creating a barrier against the evaporation of the skin’s natural moisture. Carmex also includes the ingredient lanolin, which is an effective emollient, used to lock in moisture and prevent water loss. Another key ingredient is beeswax, which has anti-inflammatory properties that help heal chapped lips. High in vitamin A, beeswax has been found to support cell reconstruction and health. Additionally, it is also a humectant, which means that it attracts water, keeping your lips hydrated and soft. Beeswax also has antibacterial properties, and studies have shown that it can inhibit the growth of fungus and bacteria. Overall, I love this medicated lip balm. It is so hydrating, and has become such a staple for me year round.
