Because even archaeologists and amateur archaeologists occasionally falsify and fake finds and artifacts, dragging an entire discipline through the mud. And that's precisely what has now been discovered in Germany. A state official has been deliberately "redating" human remains for many years...

This state archaeologist from Rhineland-Palatinate, it has now come to light, apparently made dozens of human skulls and related fragments older than they actually are. In some cases, he is even said to have incorrectly stated their exact find location. Some finds are therefore not thousands of years old – but date from the modern era.
No one noticed this until doubts arose about his doctoral dissertation, which – surprise, surprise! – partly refers to precisely these finds.
He "worked in a highly unscientific manner and manipulated findings," as the responsible authorities now say about the official. Now, external researchers are to re-evaluate the findings in question....
