Maine: Baxter State Park and Desert Island
We drove up to Maine so Heather can do the Knife Edge finally. Our last attempt, we hit bad weather. We were blessed with beautiful weather our first day.

Day 1: We drove up to Maine from New Jersey, leaving early so we could check out a few sights in Maine. One being Giant Steps. I decided to take out the DJI Spark to get some nice shots of the rocks and ocean while there wasn't too many people around. During our visit, there was a mermaid photo shoot. We stayed in an Inn in Millinocket (Katahdin Inn and Suites).
Day 2: Leaving the Inn around 6am, we got to the gate around 7am, and thus started the hike around 7:30am. We started from Roaring Brook, warmed up on Chimney Pond Trail, then scrambled up Cathedral Trail. This was a great way to go up. After a quick bite to eat and a short rest on Baxter Peak, we did the mile long Knife Edge and finished off with the Helon Taylor Trail.
Day 3: This day we decided to take it easy and hammocked near Branch Pond on the North end of the park. Afterwards we left to play in the Ledge Falls, which is on the way back to Roaring Brook.
Day 4: Today was another short but rewarding hike on Sentinel Mountain Trail. You could see there were only a few clouds around, but Baxter Peak had a permanent cloud on it. After getting down, we turned on the walkie talkie to get some weather information as we knew that rain was coming. The forecast turned for the worse and a hurricane was coming. We decided to cut out Baxter trip short and drive down to Mount Desert Island, our second part of the trip.
Day 5: We were excited that many trails that are normally closed for falcons were open on our visit, so we had a few trails in mind. Our first trail was to Valley Cove Trail. But, upon arrival we learned that the trail was damaged and we had to turn away. Instead, we just did the Acadia Mountain Trail to Man O'War Brook Trail.
Day 6: Another trail we had our hearts set on was Precipice Trail, which was open and the weather this day was perfect. We managed to get up to the top, take Champlain North Ridge to Orange & Black trail and back to the Precipice Trailhead in 3 hours. Afterwards, we traveled the island looking for some good spots to film with the drone outside Acadia park. We found some nice beach areas for some romantic footage.
Day 7: Drove back to New Jersey, but not before going to Mount Desert Island Ice Cream, the best ice cream in Bar Harbor!
