Asset management is an important step in optimizing your WordPress website. I find tackling entire plugins is the best way to approach it, you can also go down the rabbit hole of removing assets from your theme but then it becomes considerably more complicated. Start by removing plugins from places they aren't needed like loading Contact Form 7 only on your contact page.
