Sponge Project 19 August 2022
Sponge Project is a work-in-progress using a collection of ASMR sponge videos from Instagram that the artist Dina Kelberman has been amassing over the course of a few years. The videos feature POV shots of hands squishing colourful sponges and making thick suds or ripping the sponges to bits. The fuzzy sound of multitudes of these videos played at once creates a dense cacophony. Dina Kelberman plans to organize these videos into a spectrum based on their sensory effect ranging from ‘soothing’ to ‘abrasive’. The process of organising these videos (over 4’000 of them so far) will be livestreamed on permanentbeta.network and on Twitch during both regularly scheduled ‘office hours’ and occasional impromptu sessions. During any session viewers are welcome to chat and ask questions, give opinions, complain, etc.
