Specific Gravity: The specific gravity of a fiber indicates the density relative to that of the water at 4°C. We know that the specific gravity of water at 4°C temperature is 1 per cubic centimeter or pounds per cubic foot. Density indicates the mass per unit volume and express as grams per cubic centimeter or pounds per cubic foot. Fabrics which are composed of higher specific gravity are heavier than that of the fabrics produced from fibers of lower specific gravity.
