By: Bloomberg Law - Nov. 1 (Bloomberg Law) -- Many companies wait until after they've been hacked to seek counsel about their data security, according to Lisa Sotto, a privacy law expert and New York managing partner for Hunton & Williams. She talks with Bloomberg Law's Lee Pacchia about a recent data theft incident involving Barnes & Noble. Last week the book retailer announced that PIN pad devices at 63 stores had been hacked in an attempt to obtain customers payment card data. The company has since been sued by a customer over the breach. Sotto says that more large companies are going to be susceptible to data security breaches as events are increasingly driven by creative, highly motivated and organized criminals.
