Almost 1,000 children in primary schools across Shropshire took part in Shropshire Bookfest’s Readers to Writers 2025 project. They were all linked up with a top children’s author and given a selection of their books to enjoy reading. At the end of January 2025, they had the excitement of welcoming their author into their classroom and taking part in a special creative writing workshop.
Inspired and enthused by all the top tips their author had given them, they then spent the rest of the term writing and illustrating their very own books!
Their books were all entered into a county-wide Creative Writing Competition - and the Shropshire Bookfest Reading Panel had a very difficult time selecting their favourites from among so many fabulous stories.
We’re delighted that the prizewinning books for each year group are narrated by the Readers to Writers author team who helped inspire them.
