Etude No.24 "Messiaen M3 Bitonal Arpeggio/Triads - Maj7sus4 Drop2 Inversions - Octave Displacement"
This etude is based on the scale Messiaen M3 again: G A Bb B C# D Eb F F#
The open string chord section in the beginning uses an open d string as a drone with spread major triad add#11 chords moved in parallel - some melodic voiceleading in the upper voice gives a nice variation of this idea.
The next casacading pattern is build of two chord types that can be found within the scale. Maj7sus2 and Maj7sus4 - I use a drop 2 voicing and a root position chord to build an ascending line whereas the descending part of the pattern are the 3 (of the 6 in total) major triads present in M3.
The following idea is drop 2 inversions of Maj7sus4 chords with a melodic fragment to get a nice upper voice.
The really dark sounding octave displacement idea is played with alternate cross picking here...
