This vlog is about the DCARA’s fiasco. It has to be stopped! Racism comments are the root of the whole problem. Sit back and listen! Thanks
Shakes my head. I am really furious and jealous. You are lucky to be able to sit back and watch all the problems unfold only to say that you hope that it would be solved by itself. You can look away. I want to do the same as you all, but I cant. POC people are s u f f e r I n g.
Look at the DCARA situation with all the lawsuit jumbo, and the POC people are being swept under the rug when they ask questions. It is as if they are saying that we shouldn’t be asking any questions. As if I shouldn’t be making any vlogs like this one.
Ugh! You, Steven, have to stop pulling people in the situation. We are talking about A to B. That is it. You included different rumors and such into this. I do not give a FUCK. Just stop! Lawsuit isn’t the answer. Lawsuit doesn’t change the racism issue, which is what started all this. If no racist statement was made, all chain of reaction events would never happened. I wish what would happen is if the racist statement was actually made, they would take the time to have a dialogue within the board. Within this dialogue, the board could have discussed the biases they actually had within themselves. Ask themselves the kind of questions such as why did they chose to use those racists slurs, or why they allowed certain racist situations to happen under their watch. Those kind of action would be a way to work together, but they showed none of those. Instead, the person who made the racist remark gave a half-hearted apology and resigned instead. Then the chao has continued since. Still!
It is time to stop. Finish! I am getting more angrier even if I live in Southern California, and DCARA is in Northern California. Even if they are far, I still can feel the POC people there. I feel them, truly. I appreciate those white people who still standing by us and fight the battles with them. They are being our ally, and we need you to become an ally. How? You can get in touch with those board members who are still stubborn and tell them to stop it. Tell them to listen to POC people or something! Making vlogs to say look at me and let us know that you have called them out is not necessary. Do it in your own ways, subtle or whatever suits you including posting on Facebook or having conversations with your friends. Convince them, have a dialogue with them. Tell them that their behavior is not acceptable.
BLM is here, and still this concept goes over your head. Maybe you think that this is a hearing people issue. In our own Deaf community, you would let this chao happen. Finish! The DCARA clients are suffering, I can see that. I can only imagine. DCARA staff obviously cannot give the clients their full attention due to splitting their attention with this lawsuit issue. That truly is not necessary.
I get the concept of having bylaws in place, and the desire to abide by it and catch any mistakes it may have. Fine, but you still should work with them, not against them. No! Work with them to uplift the agency as a whole, which includes accepting and uplifting the new board, not pushing them down to fail.
I feel the clients. I feel POC people. I see the Asian club of Bay Area trying to get at you. Other people have tried, too. You just shrugged them off. Now, maybe you think, oh this Latina from Southern California now. You, Steven, did it for the second time. First time with a Latina woman, and now a black woman. Ah. Unpack your white male privileges, please. Get up and get to work.
