Live Ball Screen Drill puts players in a real game setting where they play either 1 vs 2 (on ball defender & help defender who is guarding the screener), or 1 vs 3 (on ball defender, help defender who is guarding the screener, and defender in the paint on either ball or weak side). On ball defender can only go over the top of the screen, cannot cheat under. 1st helping defender can hedge, can sag off, throws different options at an offensive player. 2nd helping defender can choose which side to start on, only allowed to challenge at the rim.
This drill helps players to read and react on ball screens, ultimately helping them to become comfortable in these situations. Ball Screen is the most used offensive set on all levels. We always utilize this drill with our College groups.
