The Dutch Hobby Orchestra was one of the best big bands in Dutch jazz history, yet it never released a complete album. That may be because of the name Hobby Orchestra which betrays something of the intention of this band and the atmosphere in which they played.
This orchestra included the best Dutch jazz musicians of the 1960s. And the best arrangers: Frans Elsen, Rob Madna, Cees Smal, Rogier van Otterloo. A typical Dutch jazz sound that can match what could be heard internationally in the big band field at the time.
