This Cubase tutorial will show you how to display the latency of certain plugins and how to bypass the latency.

***Just to make things clear, this shows you the latency that cubase is applying on a per channel basis (let say you have a compressor on your vocal channel, it might introduce a few milliseconds of latency on that channel. Cubase then automatically compensates by moving all of the other tracks a few milliseconds later. Some plugins can take up to 30-40 or even 100ms of latency. Then, when you are trying on record or punch in on that track, you have too much delay when you are monitoring through Cubase. That is why you can use the little clock to bypass the latency (disable the plugins that introduce latency) so that you can punch in without latency for your monitoring. You then click again on the little clock to reactivate your plugins and continue mixing. This is a little bit confusing! Hope this helps.
