Aliexpress Telescope Review Time! Refractors under 100 Dollars for Deep Sky? Lets find out! :)
I recently bought 2 cheap Refractor Telescopes from Aliexpress, both under 100 Dollars, including shipping and some Accessories. Are they any good for Deep Sky Astrophotography? Lets find out! :)
Some technical Data on the Telescopes:
The bigger one seems to be the Skyoptikst T80-600OTA
Lens Diameter: 80mm Focal Length: 600mm F Number: 5.6 (according to website)
General impression: Build Quality is very good! Its also very fast at F 5.6 and 80mm, go a good choice if you have a older DSLR with poor ISO performance. Downside is the Chromatic Abberation.
The Smaller one is a No Name Brand 70/500mm Scope
Lens Diameter: 70mm (not 80mm like advertised) Focal Lenght: 500mm
F-Number unknown, couldnt find any data on that, but id guess its around F7
General Impression: Build Quality is very poor (very bad Focuser, poor paint job inside the Tube, Apperture Break is at wrong position etc... but what to expect for 70 bucks ;) Upside: The Lens seems to be freaking good! Very Clear, Sharp images, very little Chromatic Abberation.
Conclusion: I think if youre really on a budget, these are good choices to get started in Deep Sky Photography. Im very happy for myself that i found a replacement for my older SV20 80/500 Scope wich i dont have anymore ;)
