Osmoregulation in Freshwater Animals | Class 12 Biology 🧬
Freshwater animals live in a hypotonic environment, so water continuously enters their body by osmosis. To maintain balance, they use special adaptations:
✔️ Excrete large amounts of dilute urine 💧
✔️ Actively absorb salts through gills or skin 🐟
✔️ Prevent excess water from accumulating in cells
