My brother passed his Amateur Radio License General Exam!
He took the Technician Exam and got 37 correct out of 38.

Time for an Amateur Radio Transceiver for Alex...
He debated getting an IC7300 but at $1,200 cost kaboshed that idea.
Alex is setting up an end fed antenna from Palomar Engineers.
The bullet part might start on a tripod on his house and extend to his garage.
He has 100' of RG8X coax and the Palmoar Engineers 500w bullet 1:9 unum with
71' of wire (there a bouts) and a common mode kit - which is a toroid to wrap 10 loops
of coax around to stop common mode RF into his ham shack.
And a countrpose kit.
I am betting his antenna will work better than mine as it will be up a lot higher.
The Ten Tec Paragon I that I sent him was pretty beat up from the previous owner.
The transceiver had the well known VCO Major loop board bad soldering issues
on the bottom of the board.
I used the weller soldering iron and a lot of solder to resolder all the joints on the bottom of the board.
The frequency on the BFO / Transmit board was off for Tune CW and LSB and for USB.
Brought those back into spec.
The Paragon one is missing the bottom! I wanted to retain the bottom for the
Omni 6 which I have here.
The Paragon has a sheet of metal as an RF shield as a bottom and
it has the actual case with the legs and a meta rod in the front to prop up the
transceiver.
Betting Alex can eventually find the bottom cover and the case bottom on eBay
as ham radio scrappers are tearing apart older rigs and making very good monty
selling off the parts.
One of these guys is in the country of Columbia.
At any rate this video proves the worth of the radio.
I can most likely support Alex and his Ten Tec Paragon I as I have an exactly identical Paragon I here.
I bought the one that I had sent to Alex on a lark as I wanted to see if I could fix it.
And I did.
