this is a restoration of an early unused segment of the final cutscene in bowser's inside story

and no, this is not some clever prank or a show-off of how good i am at cutscene editing, this was just sitting in the game's files this whole time, but i was the only person who ever actually found it (as far as i'm aware)

this was all hex edited manually, so there's a few issues. some things to note:
the bottom screen needs to be faded to black at the beginning to prevent glitches from showing up. i plan to fix that eventually, once modding tools become more robust
the chest station text, obviously not supposed to be there, i plan to fix that too
at the beginning of the cutscene as both screens fade from black, they're probably supposed to be in sync but they're not, i plan to fix that as well
when dark bowser is yelling up to the sky, he's supposed to be breathing blue fire, but i had to disable it to prevent a crash
a lot of the particle effects just do not work. they either crash, don't show up, or show the wrong effect (which is probably a relic of an old build so i plan to leave those "wrong")
after the cloud tornado scene after the footage cuts off, the game crashes when switching to the next scene. no idea why, i probably messed it up, so i plan look into that

also of course, biggest detail:
after it transitions to the cloud tornado scene, it resumes the cutscene in a vanilla fashion. idk if it was always intended like that, or if the opening part of the cutscene just so happened to be the only part that wasn't overwritten, or however it happened. point is, after the footage ends, it's (if everything continues as intended without crashing) completely vanilla.

my theory is that, since the unused part of the cutscene is in extra parts of the script, they just forgot to remove it. they overwrote the script that executes when you enter the room with the vanilla code, but in the old build, it would have sent the scene to a different room ID. and since that part of the cutscene sends the scene back to the original room in yet another script that's never touched by vanilla gameplay, it just got to sit there doing nothing. never touched by game, but never quite removed either.

as far as testing has led me to believe, all i've needed to really change is that script that executes once you enter the room. from there, the cutscene is basically still fully intact (with one or two errors that still need to be corrected ofc)

also if you're here from chuggaa's video, hi
