Crooked Rider - Night Sands
This one is dedicated to my brother James, who just got married. On my way home from his wedding last night I bought a new guitar and stayed up way too late playing it;....and captured this video!
The guitar is a Teisco Raven, made in Japan in the 1960s. I was looking for a cheap guitar for my students to play, and picked it up for $175. Didn't want to get just a Strat or Gibson copy...wanted something that would also enhance my collection, and that I would also want to play!! So this is the axe. It's a pretty unique guitar, it's got a smaller scale neck which is good for the students.
I am playing through a Garnet Herzog preamp, which adds a lush kind of color/tone to the instrument, and also makes for more dirt when you dig in some more. Got that plugged into my blackface Fender Deluxe Reverb reissue. Can't go wrong with that amp! I reaaally like this combo!!!
It was too late in the evening to be loud so I used my JMS Custom Audio attenuator box. Great for pushing the amp to scream but at quieter output levels. I find this one to be pretty transparent sounding! https://jmscustomaudio.com
