// Calculating Simple Linear Regression in Excel //
Simple linear regression explains a (dependent) variable using an independent variable. It also describes the influence of a variable x on a target variable y.
This video demonstrates how to perform simple linear regression in Excel. First, a scatter plot is used to create a graphical representation. Then, a trend line, also known as the regression line, is added to the chart, and Excel calculates a regression formula and a coefficient of determination (R²).
To further illustrate this process, the slope of the regression line (Beta) is calculated manually in Excel, which is also used to calculate the constant (Alpha).
