DIY Hair Extensions Tutorial
How to make your own clip in hair extensions - much cheaper than buying ready-to-wear extensions!
Products used:
Sassy's 12 inch 100% real human hair in dark brown.
Hairtensity 18 inch 100% human hair PREMIUM BLEND (blend of real and synthetic hair) in dark brown.
12 black wig clips
Black upholstery thread
Sewing needle
I made 1 set of extensions (4 pieces) using most of the 2 packs of 12 inch Sassy's real human hair. Later I decided I wanted my extensions longer, so I bought 1 pack of Hairtensity 18inch premium blend hair to add to some of my 12 inch clip-in extensions that I had previously made. This made a layered, thick set of clip-in extensions and I typically have 2 extra pieces that I dont use that are made up of only 12 inches. Essentially this was enough hair for 2 or 3 sets of extensions (depending on how many pieces you make and how thick you want them). I paid probably around $90 for all the pieces that I have (6 clip-in pieces with some extra hair tracks left over) If you only double the tracks of hair instead of tripple/quadrouple it, (like I did) you could make a set of extensions with 1 pack of hair which could cost anywhere from $30-$80 depending on what quality and length of hair you use. I prefer the 100% REAL human hair (Sassy's brand is great!). The Hairtensity brand is NOT 100% real human hair. It is a blend of real hair and synthetic hair. It can be used in heat styling in LOW heat only but cannot be bleached or color processed!!!
