Coloring a Pencil Drawing in Photoshop
In this video, I will show you my workflow for adding colors to my Fairy Town on Rocky Hill illustration in Photoshop. Whether you're interested in digital art or just looking for tips on adding colors to your drawings, this video is for you!

Before we get started, I want to mention that this is actually the second part of a two-part series. In the first video, I showed the initial pencil drawing workflow for this illustration. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend checking it out before watching this video. Here's the link:    • Full drawing process from start to finish ...

Now, let's dive into the color workflow!
The first step I take is to cut out the shapes of the illustration drawing on separate layers. This technique makes it easier for me to work on each section individually and ensure that everything looks cohesive when it's all put together. Once I've cut out the shapes, I add colors to each layer, bringing the illustration to life and making it more vibrant.

After adding colors, I duplicate some layers and adjust the brightness and contrast to create more depth and dimensionality in the drawing. This step is crucial because it makes the illustration look more three-dimensional.

To enhance the three-dimensional effect further, I use the eraser tool in Photoshop to clear the top layer. This technique creates a sense of depth by removing parts of the top layer and revealing the layers underneath. It's a subtle effect, but it can really make the illustration pop.

Overall, the color workflow is a crucial part of the illustration process, where the pencil drawing is given new life and can convey a different feeling or tell a story, capturing the viewer's attention.

Using Photoshop to bring color to illustrations is a more comfortable way of working compared to using a colored pencil. It allows for more flexibility in adjusting and correcting mistakes. In Photoshop, I can easily undo mistakes or make changes to specific parts of the illustration without having to start over from scratch. This is especially useful when working on complex illustrations that require multiple layers and adjustments.

In conclusion, working with Photoshop gives me more control over the illustration and allows me to create a final product that is both polished and professional-looking. I hope you found this video helpful and informative!
