Completing My EFR + Rescue Diving Course in Thailand

➡️ What is Emergency First Responder Course?
The EFR course is a CPR and first aid qualification, valid for 2 years. Conducted over a full day, this course teaches you to Assess emergency situations, checking for Breathing, Circulation, Spinal injuries and Serious bleeding before taking appropriate first aid action and summoning emergency services assistance.
This is followed by a short written exam on what you have learned during the practice session.

➡️ How Much Does It Cost?
It can cost anywhere between 20,000 - 30,000 INR, depending on where you do it. But a few places sell it in a combo package with other courses, making it cheaper and more affordable to complete.
➡️ What Does the Course Include?
The course is divided into three parts:
Online Learning or Theory
Learn how to assess an emergency situation and how to treat basic injuries where medical care is not immediately available through presentations and training videos.
Role-Playing Session
Learn eight essential skills for helping others in an emergency. Get hands-on experience administering CPR using a special manikin, practice bandaging and splinting, and apply your new skills in a role-playing scenario.
Exam
The last step is taking a written exam which will present you with different scenarios to assess an emergency and what your adequate response should be.
➡️ What is Rescue Diver Course?
PADI Rescue Diver Course trains you for unforeseen situations on the sea when diving and how to help yourself or fellow divers during these scenarios.
➡️ Requirements for the Course
Adventure Diver/Junior Adventure Diver (or qualifying certification) with completed Underwater Navigation Dive.
EFR Primary and Secondary Care training (or qualifying training) within 24 months
➡️ How Much Does It Cost?
The cost depends on the country and the scuba diving center that you choose. Generally, this course can cost you anywhere between 20,000 - 25,000 INR.
➡️ What Does the Course Include?
The course is divided into two parts:
Theory
There are several theory sessions which will be kept short, interactive and entertaining. This will be a combination of videos and presentations, followed by a Knowledge Review.
Topics covered during the PADI Rescue Diver course include assessing divers for signs of stress, assisting tired and panicked divers, dealing with unconscious divers, self-rescue techniques, diving first aid, overall emergency management, missing diver procedures and techniques for exiting the water with a casualty.
Rescue Dives
Next is going on the dives to implement what you have learnt so far in the theory.
Then once you are properly prepared, it is time to conclude your PADI Rescue Diver training with a series of final scenarios. You take responsibility for the dive boat, dealing with simulated problems as they occur. Missing divers, injured snorkelers, bad buoyancy or overexertion during dives; anything can happen, and you’ll be primed to respond.
➡️ Where Should You Do It From?
Depending on the budget, there are many different places where you can do these scuba diving courses.
Personally, I found Thailand to be one of the cheapest and best places to learn scuba diving, so I would recommend doing it from there, especially Koh Tao Island.
