Emergency Foster Care Late Night Placement Example
Emergency foster care often refers to a foster family providing care for kids who are just entering the system. These calls/texts can come at any time of day or night. Often, you do not have a lot of info about the family or child, as these removals can sometimes happen quickly and can be chaotic.
When a child comes late a night, I often mentally prepare to be up for most of the night (if not all). It’s important we remember that this is a traumatic experience and so kids may come afraid, angry, sad, or totally depleted.
By offering comfort, care, and compassion, we can help support them during this difficult time.
