Today I'll show you how to build an electric bike from a regular bicycle. The electric bike is a Batavus bike.
This is a 350W electric bike with a direct-drive hub motor. I ordered all the components used to make the bike as inexpensive as possible.
The hub motor is a 350W direct drive. I built the battery myself, using used 18650 cells with a total capacity of 11 amp-hours, and it's a 10S 4P battery pack.
I didn't add dropout boosters because the motor isn't very powerful and wouldn't be able to turn over.
I bought the 350W controller new; it produces around 500W at peak.
The maximum speed of the electric bike is 40 km/h, which is quite a lot.
With a gentle ride and no pedaling, a single charge is enough for 45+ km.
Assembling the bike took minimal time, and the result is just as good as an expensive factory bike.
