In this video, I'll show you how to build an electric bike from a new sports bike. The bike is an Azimut sports bike. This 350W electric bike has a geared hub motor. I ordered all the components used, except for the controller and throttle, to make the bike as inexpensive as possible.
The hub motor is a 350W geared motor. I built the battery myself, using used 18650 cells with a total capacity of 11 amp-hours. It's a 10S 4P, 36V battery pack.
I didn't add dropout boosters because the motor isn't very powerful and wouldn't be able to turn, and the powerful fork on this bike wouldn't allow it to.
I bought the 350W controller new; it produces around 500W at its peak. The electric bike's top speed is 40 km/h on 29-inch wheels. This is quite fast for a bicycle, comparable to a small-capacity scooter.
With gentle riding and no pedaling, a single charge lasts for 30-45 km.
Assembling the bike took minimal time, and the result is just as good as an expensive factory-made version. And most importantly, the price of assembling an electric bike yourself is truly impressive.
