Not only do Linux users get only about half of the fps compared to what you normally get with equal hardware on Windows, but also there is a problem with random fps drops which reduce fps even further on Linux. Often it can be enforced just by switching to the crafting HUD using TAB. When this happens the fps drop by around 50%, rendering the game unplayable. Since Nvidia driver 390.25 I get also a flickering black bar in addition. The black bar is visible on the screen only - interestingly not in the recorded video. The only workaround is to restart the game and to use lower graphics detail settings. The GPU wasn't overclocked during recording and the in-game sluggishness was caused by the recording software. Normally Rust stutters only the first few seconds and then runs smoothly at 30+ fps even on Linux until the random fps drop kicks in.
