Mediterranean plants, the buzzing of bees among the sage, the scents of Provence and Tuscany, the blue of the pool, and Kanfanar – a soft, smooth limestone – all combine to capture the lightness of summer in this garden.
It's exquisite – and while it's certainly a very luxurious garden design, it's simply wonderful to dream and see how perfect garden design can be today.
This garden is one of the show gardens at the State Garden Show in Überlingen. It was designed and created by the company Schellhorn Außenanlagen from Horgenzell.

James the Gardener is "Very British" – super entertaining, totally funny, incredibly competent, truly surprising – he has that typical English sense of humor. James is a gardener you couldn't have invented better! No wonder: James Foggin was born in the cradle of garden design – in England, on the Wirral Peninsula. He studied history and later trained in ornamental plant cultivation in Freiburg. He has worked in renowned nurseries, gardens, and rose gardens – as head gardener and estate manager. He is particularly knowledgeable about roses. In his free time, he acts in plays, because James is also an actor! His comedic talent is astounding. The best part: James can even laugh at himself! No other gardener shares tips and tricks for the garden as entertainingly as he does – even those who dislike gardening are royally amused!
