The Atlantic bluefin tuna is native to the Western and Eastern Atlantic Oceans. The Atlantic bluefin tuna can exceed 450 kilograms (990 pounds) in size and weight, and rivals the black marlin, Atlantic blue marlin and swordfish as the largest Perciformes fish. Throughout recorded history, this fish has been highly valued as a food fish.
