FACE VOCABULARY
1. Eyelid is a thin fold of skin that covers and protects an eye.
2. Hairs are the mass of thin thread-like structures on the head of a person, or any of these structures that grow out of the skin of a person or animal.
3. Temple is the flat region on each side of the forehead; can be sensitive to touch.
4. Cheek is the fleshy part of the face below the eyes and between the nose and ear.
5. Lip is the soft, movable parts forming the opening of the mouth; often red or pinkish in humans.
6. Jaw is the bony structure that frames the mouth; hinges with the skull to open and close the mouth.
7. Forehead is the area of the face above the eyebrows and below the hairline; often prominent and expressive in emotions.
8. Eyebrow is the strip of hair above each eye; can be thin, thick, or arched, and play an important role in facial expressions.
9. Skin is the largest organ in the body and covers the body's entire external surface. It is made up of three layers, the epidermis, dermis, and the hypodermis, all three of which vary significantly in their anatomy and function.
10. Chin is the protruding part of the face below the mouth, formed by the apex of the lower jaw.
11. Eye is the organ of sight; composed of the iris, pupil, and sclera.
12. Ear is the organ of hearing; typically protrudes slightly from the side of the head.
13. Nose is the organ of smell and breathing; positioned in the center of the face.
14. Nosetrils are one of the two holes in your nose through which you breathe, smell, and (sometimes) sneeze.
15. Mouth is the opening in the face used for speaking, eating, and breathing; consists of lips, teeth, and tongue.
16. Teeth are part of your digestive system. They break down foods by crushing or cutting them before you swallow.
EYES VOCABULARY
1. Tear duct is a small tube that drains tears from the eyes. Tears are made in glands under the eyelids. They wash over the eyes to keep them moist and clean.
2. Eyelashes are short hairs growing on the edge of the eyelids; protect the eyes from debris.
3. Iris is the colored part of the eye that surrounds the pupil. It regulates the amount of light that enters the eye.
4. Pupil is the black hole in the middle of your iris. Your iris is the colored part of your eye. Muscles in your iris control how big the pupil is.
